Is he really God?
By Ken

Have you ever stopped to consider that we often don’t
believe that God is in control? That he is God? That he is fickle and we have
to beg and plead with him for everything?
We know that everything we receive from God we receive
through faith but what is faith really? Isn’t it absolute trust in God? If we
say we believe him and trust him then why is it that when we ask for something
according to his will, and it does not immediately happen we assume the worst
or feel we have to pray harder?
As I see it, faith has several components;
1.
Asking
God for something – knowing his promises and his character.
2.
Having
peace knowing he has heard us and will grant us what we have asked of him.
3.
Knowing
that the outworking of the answer is perfect in timing and method – God is in
absolute control of every detail.
Philippians 4:6,7 Be anxious
about nothing; but in everything by prayer,
by asking along with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God.
And the peace of God, which passes
all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
How
do you know when you really have faith? Is it measurable? I believe that it is.
Here
is the checklist – see how you measure up and where your faith is at
1.
Did you ask God?
2.
Do you believe he has heard you?
3.
Do you believe he loves you and wants only the very best for
you?
4.
Do you believe he is in control of every detail?
5.
Do you have absolute peace about the situation?
6.
Are you able to thank him “in advance” for answering and
working it out?
7.
Are you willing to sit back and leave it to him to work out
in his best time and way?
8.
Do you believe he knows what is best for you in every
circumstance?
How
did you do? Where perhaps has your faith failed? Remember that faith is found
in the person of Jesus Christ – the author and finisher of our faith. Faith is
NOT God answering your prayer in your way and in your time – otherwise you
would be God. God’s ways and methods are so far beyond what we can understand
or comprehend. He weaves every detail in its place for the good of all
concerned.
