Beginning small

Zechariah 4:10 For who has despised the day of small things?

How often have we wished for instant maturity? How often have we wished for BIG things and despised the small and seemingly insignificant? One unbiased look at creation should convince us that everything starts with a “seed” and develops into a mature “plant” – at its own appointed pace. Some things develop slowly; others faster; but in each case there is a time constraint.
Why despise something small and seemingly insignificant?

Most have heard the following rhyme:
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

This demonstrates how something as insignificant as a nail, when not in its place caused serious repercussions.

Don't despise small things or small beginnings. Don't despise efforts by some to fulfill the Great Commission in ways you never thought of or reject. If God is in it, the seed will grow and develop and bring honour and glory to His Name.
